Speech- 26.05.2026: Governor launches the ‘TB Mukt Mumbai’ Campaign in Mumbai
26.05.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma launched the ‘TB Mukt Mumbai’ Campaign to be implemented by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital Sion in Mumbai. The ‘TB Mukt Mumbai’ campaign, a part of the ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched by BMC at the instance of Lok Bhavan with focus on the slum areas of Mumbai. The inauguration of the ‘TB Free Mumbai’ campaign, organized on the initiative of Maharashtra Lok Bhavan, was attended by Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, MLA Captain Tamil Selvan, MLA Dr. Jyoti Gaikwad, MLA Sunil Shinde, Chairman of the Municipal Corporation’s Public Health Committee Harish Bhandirge, Chairperson of the Education Committee Rajeshree Shirwadkar, Vice Chairman of the Market and Garden Committee Bhaskar Shetty, AMC (Suburbs) Vipin Sharma, Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, doctors, ASHA workers and officials of the Municipal Corporation. The Governor released an information booklet ‘TB Mukt Mumbai’ Abhiyan on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor visited the Eknathrao Gaikwad Health Centre in Dharavi, where he interacted with TB officers, doctors, staff members and ASHA workers, and distributed nutrition kits to TB patients. During the programme, the Governor also accepted responsibility for providing nutritional support to 30 tuberculosis patients. In recognition of this gesture, Mayor Ritu Tawde presented the Governor with a ‘Nikshay Mitra’ certificate.
