Maha Governor greets people on Sikkim Statehood Day
A group of professionals and students from Sikkim working in Mumbai met the Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan Mumbai on the occasion of Sikkim Statehood Day. The Governor greeted them on the occasion of Sikkim Statehood Day being celebrated today.
The delegation discussed the evolution of tourism in Sikkim and emphasized the growing need to promote sustainable tourism while carefully regulating visitor inflow to safeguard the State’s fragile Himalayan ecosystems and rich biodiversity.
The members also highlighted the contributions of Sikkimese students, as well as students and professionals from across the Northeast, who are making significant strides in entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, research and diverse professional sectors throughout the country.
The Governor shared his vision of fostering greater interaction and collaboration among communities from the Northeastern States through initiatives such as a technology and innovation meet inspired by the successful Hyderabad Tech Meet model.
Matrika Ghimiray, S Zangpo Bhutia, Achyut Dahal, Younita Pandey, Digvijay Pravin Patel, Phurba Kenzen Sherpa, Choden Sherpa, Phuntsok Rinzen Sherpa, Anup Mukhia and Sweekar Khatiwara were among those present.
