The Naturopathy Day will be celebrated across India through various yoga and naturopathy programmes till November 18.

The Governors of Gujarat and Maharashtra, Acharya Devvrat, inaugurated the Naturopathy Day Festival in Ahmedabad. On this occasion, he unveiled the emblem of Naturopathy Day.
At Sabarmati Riverfront, 685 people performed Vrikshasana together and participated in a mass sunbath with face mud packs. This programme was recognized as a world record by both the IEA Book of World Records and the Asia Book of Records.
The Governor said that in today’s materialistic age, we are experiencing its adverse effects. In such times, initiatives to promote awareness about health and nature are highly commendable.
He said that our ancient sages lived in deep harmony with nature and gave us the knowledge of Yoga and Pranayama. The law of nature is that the more a person stays connected to it, the more spiritually, mentally, and physically healthy he remains. The farther we move from nature, the more suffering we invite. Hence, we must return to nature.
He also recalled Mahatma Gandhi and Padmashree Jaiprakash Agrawal for their invaluable contributions to nature, humanity, and animal welfare.
The Governor shared his experiences with Shri Jaiprakash Agrawal of Surya Foundation and praised the Gujarat State Yoga Board’s efforts in promoting naturopathy. Remembering revolutionary Ramprasad Bismil, he emphasized the importance of exercise and yoga in daily life.
He noted that when people were unaware of naturopathy, Mahatma Gandhi had already popularized this ancient Indian science. He said the ultimate aim of life — Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha — is attainable only through a healthy body, for a sound soul resides in a sound body.
The core principle of naturopathy is to live in harmony with nature. Animals follow nature’s rules; humans must too. He urged people to rise before sunrise, practice yoga and pranayama, and maintain regular habits of food and sleep.
Speaking on rising modern diseases, he said that earlier there were no cases of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or joint pain, as people led simple, balanced lives close to nature. Today, chemical farming and material comforts have distanced us from nature, leading to diseases. Thus, it is essential to give up chemical farming and adopt natural farming.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched initiatives through the AYUSH Ministry and the National Mission on Natural Farming to reconnect people with nature. With the mantra “Heritage as well as Development” (Virasat bhi, Vikas bhi), he has shown the way to preserve our cultural and natural heritage.
Gujarat State Yoga Board Chairman Shri Shishupalji said that Governor Acharya Devvrat provides constant guidance on yoga, swadeshi, the Vedas, and cow conservation, and has launched many awareness campaigns on natural farming and healthy diet.
Ahmedabad Mayor Smt. Pratibhaben Jain said that the Governor’s guidance on natural farming has been a blessing for farmers. Prime Minister Modi’s messages of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya have given strength to the vision of a self-reliant and indigenous India.
International Naturopathy Organisation (INO) National President Shri Anant Biradar informed that from November 9–18, Surya Foundation, INO, and the Gujarat State Yoga Board, with the support of the National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) under the AYUSH Ministry, are organizing nationwide yoga and naturopathy programmes.
These include seminars, collective sunbathing, mud packs, and Vrikshasana — activities now listed in the Asia Book of Records and IEA Book of World Records.
INO Gujarat President Shri Mukeshbhai Shah said in his welcome address that Governor Acharya Devvrat has promoted the campaign of natural farming in Gujarat and Maharashtra and has played a vital role in reviving the Gurukul education tradition and Ayurvedic culture.
The event was attended by Dr. Hemanshu Sharma from NIN, yoga and naturopathy practitioners, yoga enthusiasts, students from various institutions, and representatives of social organizations.
