Governor keeps his promise; presents laptops to farmers

Fulfilling his assurance given to farmers, the Governor of Maharashtra CH. Vidyasagar Rao presented laptops to 12 progressive farmers at a function held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Monday (5th Nov).

The farmers were felicitated for doing innovative work in Water Management, Agro Processing, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries, Flower, Fruits and Vegetable Cultivation, Social Forestry and Agro Forestry.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said water scarcity is acquiring alarming proportions in Maharashtra. He called upon the people to devise innovative ways to manage available water resources. The Governor expressed the hope that laptops presented to the farmers will bring the power of knowledge and technology to farmers.

The twelve farmers who were given laptops were felicitated by the Governor with the Doordarshan Sahyadri Krishi Sanman Puraskar in June this year. In his speech, the Governor had then promised to present the laptops to the farmers.

Wife of the Governor CH. Vinodha, well known actress Rohini Hattangadi, Secretary of Agriculture Eknath Davle and others were present.
