Maharashtra and Gujarat State Foundation Day Celebrated in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan 

The State Foundation Days of Maharashtra and Gujarat were jointly celebrated in the presence of Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities C. P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Thursday (1 May). 

The programme was organised as part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative by Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in association with the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and the Music Department of BMC.

Students of the University performed traditional folk dances like Koli, Waghya Murali, and Dindi, while artists from the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s Music Department presented a Powada. 

Girl students of the University also performed the traditional Gujarati Tippani dance and sang the Gujarat state song, “Jay Jay Garvi Gujarat.”Short films showcasing the history, heritage, folk art, and culture of both states were screened during the event.The Governor felicitated Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi and presented certificates to the participating students.Pro-Vice-Chancellor of SPPU Dr. Parag Kelkar, Deputy Secretary to the Governor S. Ramamoorthy, management committee members, cultural coordinators and students were present. Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnavare delivered the welcome speech, while Under Secretary (Education) Vikas Kulkarni proposed the vote of thanks.
