Governor, Chief Minister perform Bhumipujan of New Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan

The Governor of Maharashtra CH. Vidyasagar Rao and State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis performed the Bhumipujan of the New Darbar Hall at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Thursday (20th Dec).

The Governor and the Chief Minister unveiled the plaque at the site of the Darbar Hall and poured concrete mixture in a pit to mark the commencement of construction of the New Darbar Hall and a new building of the Governor’s Secretariat.

Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Minister of Revenue and Public Works Chandrakant Dada Patil and senior officers of the Government and Public Works Department were present.

According to the Public Works Department, the New Darbar Hall and the Governor’s Secretariat building will be ready by 31st January 2020.

The New Darbar Hall is coming in place of the old Darbar Hall in the Raj Bhavan Complex at Malabar Hill.

The new Darbar Hall will maintain the important features of the old Darbar Hall.

The old Darbar Hall had a seating capacity of 250, while the new Darbar Hall will have a capacity of 900 seats. The Darbar Hall will serve as the venue for oath taking ceremonies, cultural programmes, investiture ceremonies and other important public programmes of the Governor.

The new Darbar Hall will have a first floor balcony and a sea-facing deck.
