    Republic Day Message by Shri C P Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra at the Main Republic Day Function at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan, Dadar, Mumbai on the 76th Republic Day, 26th January 2025

    Sisters and Brothers,

    I extend my heartiest greetings to the people of Maharashtra on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day of our nation.

    I offer my tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Veer Savarkar and all great leaders and social reformers.

    Maharashtra state is leading in all sectors. All departments have been directed to prepare a roadmap to expedite public welfare initiatives within the next 100 days, by the dynamic Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis.

    In order to ensure that the government services reach the common man, directions have been given to make online and mobile platforms available.

    Artificial Intelligence is being harnessed to accelerate government work. A Cyber Security Project has been launched at Mahape for curbing the crimes. It will assist the police in the investigation of crimes. A bill related to prison reforms and enhancement of infrastructure has been submitted for the approval of the Hon’ble President.

    It is a matter of great pride that Maharashtra remains the most preferred destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and stands first in the nation in attracting FDI.

    Financial assistance of more than Rs. 2800 crore has been credited to the bank accounts of over 68 lakh cotton and soybean farmers for the Kharif season of 2023.

    Under the Pumped Storage Projects policy, Memorandums of Understanding (MoU’s) have been signed for 38 projects through the Public Private Partnership (PPP). These projects will help to generate 55,970 MW of electricity and attract an investment of Rs. 2.95 lakh crores. In addition, employment generation of 90,390 is expected.

    Married women, widows, divorced, estranged and destitute women between the age group of 21 and 65 years and one unmarried woman from such families of the State are given Rs. 1500 per month.

    The Mukhyamantri – Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is implemented for their economic independence, food, ameliorating their health and strengthening their decision making role.

    Financial benefits under this scheme have been given to the beneficiaries from the month of July 2024 to December 2024. About 2 crore 46 lakh women have been given the benefit of about 21 thousand crore rupees.

    To encourage sports, the cash prize for the medal winners of the Olympic competition has been raised 4 to 5 times. The cash prizes for the medal winners at the Asian games, commonwealth games and other world level competitions has been increased 10 times from the existing amount.

    The “Maha Vaachan Utsav” initiative has been launched, to encourage the culture of reading among the students. So far, approximately 95 lakh students have participated in the festival.

    In order to foster constitutional values among students, a plan has been prepared to distribute the preamble of the Constitution to all the students.

    About 67,000 affordable houses are being constructed through CIDCO’s “Housing for All” initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

    The Navi Mumbai International Airport is coming up as the largest Greenfield Airport in the country with an annual capacity of at least 90 million passengers and 2.6 million tons of cargo. There are plans to commence the domestic flight services from this airport by April 2025.
    The Government has announced the policies for the ‘Third Gender’.

    AARTI has been established for the Matang community, on the lines of BARTI institution.

    A total of 1,99,739 individual and 8,695 tribal community forest rights claims have been accepted till the end of December 2024.

    Tribal tourism is being given a boost by preserving the cultural heritage of Nashik and Palghar districts by the tourism department.

    My government has given administrative approval to river linking projects including Wainganga-Nalganga, Nar-Girna- Par, Damanganga-Godavari, Ekdare-Godavari and Damanganga-Vaitarna-Godavari to divert the water from water-rich areas to the water deficient areas.

    Marathi language has been accorded the status of a ‘Classical’ language. My government is taking steps to ensure that the rich Marathi language will be continuously used in all the government affairs and other works of Maharashtra.

    The Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan- Phase- II has been started in 5819 villages. Under this Abhiyan, 1,47,495 works have been given approval as per the village plan.

    Under the Hon’ble Balasaheb Thackeray Smriti Matoshree Gram Panchayat Bandhani Yojana, we have revised the subsidy to Rs. 20 lakh for the Gram Panchayats with a population of up to 2000 and Rs. 25 lakh for Gram Panchayats with a population of above 2000 for the construction of buildings of the Gram Panchayats.

    Approval has been accorded to allocate three percent of funds under the District Annual Plan for the conservation of forts, temples and important protected monuments in the state.

    Approval has also been given to establish Corporations (sub-companies) for Nabhik, Sonar, Teli, Bari, Lonari, Lad Shakhiya Vani, Shimpi, Lohar, Gawli and Vani communities. Green signal has been given to the formation of separate corporations for carpenter and weaver communities and to implement special programs for the development of Gowari community.

    Vasantrao Naik Institute of Research and Training (VANARTI) has been accorded approval for the development of Gor Banjara tribe.

    The Jain Arthik Vikas Mahamandal has been established for the overall development of Jain community and their economic upliftment.

    It has been decided to install a 60 feet high statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot, Malvan in Sindhudurg district.

    Under the Tuberculosis eradication program in the state, the search campaign for TB patients was implemented in 30 districts. The number of mother- child deaths in the state is declining.

    Approval has been given for establishing 15 new courts in the state. These include one additional family court at Nashik, one District and session courts at Hingoli, five district and additional session courts at Nashik, Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, 8 civil courts (senior level) at Pune, Nashik, Wardha, Nagpur and Osmanabad districts and civil court (junior level) in Thane District.

    My government is working by taking together all the constituents of the society in an inclusive manner while marching ahead on the path of progress and development.

    I appeal to all to resolve to form a new and strong Maharashtra. We must all work together to make our dream of one Trillian dollar economy, a reality. Once again, my greetings to all of you, on the holy occasion of the 76th Republic Day.
