    Maharashtra Governor flags off Army’s 54th Ultra Marathon, pays homage to the martyrs

    Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishanan flagged off the Vijay Diwas Ultra Marathon organised by the Army Headquarters of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat Area on the occasion of 54th Vijay Diwas in Mumbai on Fri (6 Dec).

    Earlier, the Governor placed a wreath at the Colaba War Memorial and offered his homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty to the nation.

    The Vijay Diwas Ultra Marathon has been scheduled from 6th December to 16th December 2024. Fifteen elite runners from the Indian Army have embarked on a 405 km expedition, connecting Mumbai, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur and Pune.

    The Ultra Marathon promises to be a grand spectacle, drawing spirited participation from Defence personnel, veterans, youth and NCC cadets. The Army has organised a series of programmes like ‘Know your Army Mela’ in Nashik, ‘Talk on Indian Army offering Equal opportunity to women’ at Ahilyanagar and ‘Interaction with Veterans’ in Kolhapur.

    Chief Of Staff, MG and G Area Maj. Gen Bikramdeep Singh and senior officers were present.
