Maha Governor, CM salute police martyrs on Police Commemoration Day
Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan accompanied by State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde laid wreaths at the Police Martyrs’ Obelisc and paid tribute to the police martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the last one year at Naigaon Police headquarters in Mumbai on Mon (21 Oct).
Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Brihanmumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, diplomats from various countries and senior police officers and invitees also paid their homage to the police martyrs on the occasion.
Earlier the Governor, in a message, paid tribute to the 39 police officers and 177 police personnel from the country who sacrificed their lives while discharging the duty in the country during the last year.
After reading out the names of all the martyred police officers and enforcers, the ‘Salami Shastra’ was played by the police band. All the uniformed officers, jawans and dignitaries saluted the martyrs. Three rounds of gun were fired by the police.
The Governor met the diplomats, senior police officers and the families of the martyrs on the occasion.
