Stating that the Lokmanya Tilak’s commentary on the Bhagwad Gita inspired a whole generation of freedom fighters, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that the nation needs the Karmayoga as propounded by Lokmanya Tilak to realize the dream of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’.

Observing that Bhagwad Gita has spoken about Bhaktiyog, Sanyasa Yoga, Karmayog and Gyan Yoga, the Governor said the nation needs the Karmayoga as elucidated by Lokmanya Tilak in the Gita Rahasya to become self reliant and self sufficient.

The Governor recalled that while Lokmanya Tilak wrote the treatise ‘Gita Rahasya’ in the Mandalay prison, he had the opportunity to read Tilak’s ‘Gita Rahasya’ while he was also imprisoned at Fatehgarh prison in UP during the Emergency.

The Governor was presented the Hindi edition of ‘Gita Rahasya’ translated by Madhavrao Sapre on the occasion. A play directed by theatre personality Mujib Khan on the life of Lokmanya Tilak was staged after the inauguration function.
